Tanzania & Zanzibar
13 Day Luxury Northern Circuit Safari, Migration and Beach Adventure
January 24 — February 5, 2025
with Karen Score & Danielle Tait
We invite you on a bucket list trip of a lifetime! Join us in Tanzania and Zanzibar, Africa!
WHY TANZANIA?
Tanzania is known as the greatest wildlife destination on the planet and is home to many of the best and biggest National Parks in Africa, as well as some of the most varied and unique landscapes you’ll ever see!
A Safari in Tanzania is like no other, with the largest concentration and diversity of animals in Africa. It is here that you can see The Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino & buffalo) and witness the Great Migration in one of the most iconic, legendary and spectacular National Parks, the Serengeti!
WHY ZANZIBAR?
While beaches may not be one of the first things you think of when you imagine a African Safari, a trip to Zanzibar to round things off couldn’t be more perfect! Regarded as having some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world, we decided that this gorgeous island in the Indian Ocean would be the “icing on the cake” of our African Safari Adventure!
Known as the “Spice Island,” Zanzibar has attracted visitors throughout the centuries, including Persians, Chinese, Arabs, Indians and Europeans for trade of spices and silk. A visit to Zanzibar’s Stone Town will provide an opportunity to explore the spice markets and view superb Arabic architecture. This culturally blended town is just one of a few remaining ancient towns in Africa, and its beauty, along with historical significance, has earned it a place amongst UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Now that you know why we’ve chosen Tanzania & Zanzibar as a Grace in Nature destination, maybe you’ll consider joining us on this trip of a lifetime!
We begin our adventure together in Arusha, the starting point for Northern Circuit Safaris. It is here that we gather our group and spend our first night in Africa, staying in gorgeous, welcoming accommodations with beautiful gardens, elegant rooms and a secluded swimming pool — the prefect way to get grounded after a long flight!
Then the real adventure begins… Off we go on our African Safari with our first stop being Tarangire National Park, a land of big Baobab trees, big cats, and big elephants! Within these savannah plains, river woodlands and rocky hills, sightings of giraffes, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, baboons, monkeys and lions are almost guaranteed. The Tarangire is home to one of the largest lion populations in Tanzania and while there are also cheetah and leopard lurking about, they can be a bit harder to spot but maybe we will get lucky!
Lake Manyara National Park is next on our route. Within the dense forest of this park you may see lions draping on the branches of trees or an elephant emerging from behind a tree. Oh, and there are A LOT of baboons here!
Day 4 and 5 will be in the Serengeti National Park, the earliest site recorded as a World Heritage Site, with a unique ecosystem providing insight into the dynamic functions of the natural world. The tremendous stretch of land making up the Serengeti National Park is stunning with its extraordinary skies of astonishing colors and the sensation of not knowing what you’ll spot next —with over 7,500 hyenas, 3000 lions, 250 cheetahs, along with the quiet, giant elephants and so much more— every moment holds the potential for seeing something magical unfold, combined with the danger in the hunt for prey… all necessary for the “Circle of Life” in this biological ecosystem.
South of the Serengeti is Ndutu. This stunning area allows for a quieter and more intimate experience, as fewer travelers make their way here. It is a fantastic place to view the big cats and other wildlife — especially when the Great Migration passes through! Enjoy watching epic numbers of wildlife pass across the landscape and the predators who are ready to pounce. The endless horizons and star filled night skies are pretty spectacular here, too!
On our 7th day of Safari we will be in Ngorongoro Crater, said to be the jewel in Tanzania’s crown. Thought to be the result of a volcanic explosion, this fertile valley is one of the most beautiful natural wildlife safari destinations in the world. The enclosed nature of the crater has created an ecosystem all of its own resulting in some of the best opportunities to spot lions, buffalo, elephants, leopard, zebra and cheetah, along with ostrich, gazelle, wildebeest, hippo, hyenas, and even the endangered black rhino. You may want to rise early in the morning here to take in the sight of the mist rising from the crater, revealing the steep, forested walls and waterways where an abundance of wildlife are hidden from sight.
Now onto ZANZIBAR! After short flight from Tanzania you’ll find yourself on this stunningly gorgeous island in the Indian Ocean. We will be staying in Nungwi, which has one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, and is the best place to see the sunset! Once upon a time, this was a major boat building center for the traditional wooden sailing boats called dhows. It’s also a great place to learn all about turtle conservation, swim, go diving or snorkeling, make a day-trip to historical Stone Town, or just relax and soak up the vibes and all the experiences of the previous week before heading back home.
We can’t wait to experience this incredible adventure and would love to share it with YOU!
Rest assured, as always on a Grace in Nature Retreat, the safety and comfort of all our participants is our utmost priority. We are working with a professional, experienced and highly recommended Safari Tour Operator for the entirety of this journey. We promise you will be in the best of hands!
“There is something about safari life that makes you forget all your sorrows and feel as if you had drunk half a bottle of champagne — bubbling over with heartfelt gratitude for being alive”

“In September 2023, I went to Portugal with Grace in Nature (Karen Score). It was a wonderful experience and the trip was more than I could have ever imagined. I did not have to worry about any details because Karen meticulously planned every aspect of the retreat. If there were any glitches it never was apparent in Karen’s demeanor. Her assistance with choosing flights and packing were spot on. The private accommodations at the villa were exceptional, comfortable and clean. We had our own professional chef at the villa and the food was delicious, fresh, and healthy. Every meal was picture worthy! Jonathan and his staff were amazing. Karen’s excursions were private, unique, enjoyable and well planned. I was fortunate to have Gina and Lynn on this trip. Gina's expertise in wellness (and fun!) was a bonus. Her yoga and Ayurveda sessions were relaxing, informative, and thought provoking. Lynn's travel experience and humor were certainly appreciated. I felt comfortable with every retreat member. There was definitely a group connection and we had so many laughs! We are still conversing on What’s App too.
Karen has a skillful and quiet way of bringing people together. Her passion for people and her experience with travel is why I would trust Grace in Nature Retreats to plan my next vacation. If you want to travel and spend your time enjoying the trip, Karen is the person to contact. Thank you, Karen. It was a trip that I will always remember.”

“Grace in Nature, LLC / Karen Score’s trip to Portugal exceeded my expectations. Karen came highly recommended and did not disappoint. From the accommodations to our own personal chef and wonderful healthy food she assured that all our needs were met. I loved not having to plan or worry about anything and taking advantage of the beautiful sights and scenery of Portugal. Gina started our day off right with daily yoga. She was amazingly good at providing a yoga experience that met the whole groups needs. If you want a healthy, relaxed travel experience without the hassle of planning all the details you are in excellent hands with Karen. I hope to plan my next destination soon.”

“With a group of friends, I recently participated in a fabulous trip to southern Portugal thoughtfully designed by Grace in Nature Retreats. The experience was more than a vacation, including lodging accommodations, excursions, a private chef and his team, and daily yoga classes. Our villa was simply elegant and intimate, conducive to relaxing and connecting with others in the larger group of 16. The food was beautifully and healthfully prepared. Meals appealing to all the senses and family style eating were highlights of our time at the Villa. Excursions such as visiting fishing villages, beaches, old towns, paddling together to a deserted beach, and visiting Benagil caves all stand out. Yoga by Gina, infused with Ayurvedic knowledge, made it ideal. We experienced the culture of the Algarve with group activities and explored on our own. Karen and Gina created a trip of adventure, relaxation. introspection, and camaraderie that made this an extremely memorable experience.”

“Karen curates a perfect trip—relaxation, beauty, action. There were gorgeous excursions along the Rio Formosa in the Algarve region of Portugal, allowing our group to explore the beautiful beaches along with the life of local fishermen. The charming town of Olhao was interesting and completely walkable. The final days in Lisbon flew by. We found the Portuguese to be friendly and warm. From the street art and street entertainers, the hilly, scenic streets, and the beautiful Tagus River, Lisbon brings you back to the time of western exploration to the current. Wonderful trip! Thank you, Karen!“
