Florence + Tuscany

Fall 2019
with Suzanne Lynch & Karen Score

Italy is a country of incredible beauty and this trip brought us to one of its most gorgeous regions—exploring medieval hilltop towns, sun drenched vineyards, Renaissance art and architecture, and stunning landscapes.

We spent our first night in Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance and often referred to as an open-air museum. The next day we departed for our home-base, Spannocchia, a magical Tuscan estate with eight centuries of history. There’s a castle, terraced gardens, orchards, and vineyards on this working organic farm. Spannochia is a unique place, committed to preserving the original agricultural property and dedicated to promoting sustainable living. The Tenuta of Spannocchia produces certified organic olive oil, wine, and their vegetable garden provides produce for their authentic and delicious Tuscan seasonal cuisine.

We stayed in the Castello di Spannocchia’s Villa. These rooms occupy the original structure, built in the 16th century, and expanded in the 18th century. It is furnished with historic paintings, original antiques, and family heirlooms. The views are superb.

This week-long adventure included meals and lodging; transportation from Florence to Tuscany and back; daily yoga and guided meditation; daily hikes and Spannocchia’s Sustainable Harvest Tour; wine tasting at Podere di Ripi in Montalcino with a stop in Pienza; a day in the medieval walled city of Siena, including a 2 hour walking tour and entrance to the Duomo and museum; an excursion to the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore; and a celebration dinner in Colle Val d’Elsa with a walking tour of that city!

Testimonial:

“A perfect mixture of adventure, exploration both within myself and outdoors, yoga practice and relaxation. This retreat allowed for strangers to come together into a space as a family, it encouraged us to tune into ourselves and nature, and it nurtured the love and grace within us all. I would recommend a retreat with Grace in Nature to everyone and I look forward to my next one!”
